We will begin by reflecting on our specific memories and dreams then, students can journal and sketch thoughts, themes, and ideas, using them as inspiration for different pieces. Students will have the opportunity to delve into their own experiences to create unique pieces of artwork that reflect their individuality and creativity while exploring various techniques for creating collages, including layering, blending, and exploring found materials such as old photographs, magazine clippings, and fabric scraps. This class will explore creating collages that visually represent personal memories and dreams. We do not allow mineral spirits or toxic mediums like Liquin in the class. We will be using a refined non-toxic linseed oil in this class as an oil painting medium to achieve the same results as regular toxic painting mediums. The instructor will analyze the structure of the eyes, nose, mouth, cheeks, chin, and ears. ![]() There will be a focus on creating the portrait it will teach the student to draw and paint facial features more accurately and 3-dimensionally. Develop a fuller understanding of light and shadow, warm and cool colors, sculptural strokes, and simple, expressive shapes while using the painting medium of your choice, including oil, pastel, or watercolor. Paint or draw the human figure in costume, delving into themes such as historical dress, the use of hats, musical instruments, and other evocative or historically significant props.
